A post-doc position on the neurology of gesture production at the Department of Neurology, Psychosomatic Medicine, and Psychiatry (Prof. H. Lausberg) at the German Sport University, Cologne, Germany
A post-doc position is available in the interdisciplinary research project „Towards a grammar of gesture: Evolution, brain, and linguistic structures“ (www.togog.org) granted by the VolkswagenStiftung. The position is for one year and a renewal is possible until 2014 if additonal research grants are acquired. The successful applicant is expected to supervise a research project on gesture production in patients with right and left hemisphere damage and to analyse gestural behaviour with the NEUROGES-ELAN system. She/he has the opportunity to join research projects focussing on the neurobiological correlates of gesture production by using NearInfraRedSpectroscopy (NIRS) as well as to pursue his/her own research as long as the projects relate to the ongoing lab activities.

German fluency is neither a requirement for working at the German Sport University nor to enjoy daily life in Cologne, a vibrant city with a population of one million. The working language is English and minimal teaching in English or German is required (2 hours / week for each of the two 15-week terms / year).
Remuneration is about 25.400 € for the post-doctoral appointments, before taxes. The post-doc candidate must be within 10 years of completion of their Ph.D., or be at the final stages of completing a Ph.D.
