PhD position eye-tracking and interaction in Flemish Sign Language
KU Leuven (Belgium)
Full-time postion in a 4-year research project
For the research group Multimodality, Interaction and Discourse (MIDI) at KU Leuven, we are looking for a PhD student for a newly awarded project entitled: “Eye gaze in multimodal interaction management. An interdisciplinary study on speech, music and signed language”. More specifically, we invite candidates for the third component of this project, viz. an empirical approach to the role of eye gaze in Flemish Sign Language interactions, based on eye-tracking data.
The PhD candidate will strengthen our team for the above-mentioned project, awarded to Geert Brône, Myriam Vermeerbergen and Kurt Feyaerts (KU Leuven, Dept. Linguistics, MIDI) by the KU Leuven research fund. The MIDI research group (Multimodality, Interaction & Discourse: https://www.arts.kuleuven.be/midi) unites researchers with an interest in the study of language in interaction, with a specific focus on the social, cognitive and multimodal dimension of language use.
