The Formal Linguistics Group (GLiF, Grup de Lingüística Formal) at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) invites expressions of interest for a two-year or three-year postdoctoral fellowship of the “Juan de la Cierva” program, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. This is an extremely competitive program, so only candidates with an outstanding research profile will be considered.
There are two modalities, depending on the date of PhD defense:
1. Juan de la Cierva-Training Program (two-year contract): for researchers with a recently awarded PhD (from 1st January 2019 to 31st December 2020)
2. Juan de la Cierva-Incorporation Program (three-year contract): for doctoral researchers who obtained their PhD between 1st January 2016 and 31st December 2018.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to carry out a project for the postdoctoral contract period which integrates into any of the GLiF research areas (https://www.upf.edu/web/glif). Candidates must have a full-time host researcher as a sponsor; each host researcher can sponsor at most one candidate per modality.
Those interested are invited to send a message to the intended host researcher by January 7th, 2021 containing the following items in a single pdf document: a cover letter with a brief expression of interest specifying the project to be developed in the next two years, and a curriculum vitae. Please include “Postdoc fellowship” in the email subject line. Please note that Louise McNally is not sponsoring candidates this year.
Note that the selection for these postdoctoral positions is carried out by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, but the candidates must have a guarantee of co-funding by a research group or a Department. The candidate(s) preselected by GLiF will get that co-funding guarantee.
Candidates preselected by a GLiF member will have to fill up the online application at the Ministry’s website by 19 January 2021 (Barcelona local time).
Expression of interest deadline: 7 January 2021
Application deadline: 19 January 2021
Please feel free to forward this mail to relevant mailing lists or to possibly interested contacts.
