The Linguistics Department at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Linguistics for Fall 2014. Applicants must have a strong background in theoretical linguistics (syntax, phonology, morphology, and/or semantics) with a specialization in American Sign Language. Applicants studying any aspect of ASL are encouraged to apply, although candidates with an experimentally informed research program would be an especially good fit with current faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, have an active research agenda, and participate in graduate student mentoring and student advisement. Willingness to provide service to the department, university and larger professional community are also required. Demonstrated ability in grant seeking/writing is a plus. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist in growing a minor in ASL Studies and in developing a partnership with the local Deaf educational community.

Review of applications will begin immediately. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Electronic submission is preferred. Priority will be given to applications received by December 2, 2013.
