We would like to draw your attention to the section A9 „CEFR for sign languages as a second or foreign language“ at the IDT conference 2017 in Fribourg (NE), Switzerland. The section takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2017 within the framework of the XVI. International Conference for German Teachers (31st of July until 4th of August 2017, web-link to the section: http://www.idt-2017.ch/index.php/a9 ). Early bird registration is open until the 30th of September 2016 and abstracts may already be handed in.

Whereas a CEFR for second and foreign language acquisition already exists and is being used for teaching spoken languages, a CEFR for signed languages is still pending. This is also the main focus of the section initiated and organized by Jörg Keller and Patty Shores. The section A9 will last for two days and focuses on the exchange between researchers from both fields: signed and spoken languages.

We would like to invite you to take part in this exchange by handing in a report or a presentation that is connected to the further development of the CEFR or the development of the CEFR for sign languages.

For further details please take notice of the attached documents. The official language of the conference is German (English is an option) and each oral contribution will be interpreted into Swiss German Sign Language (DSGS). We would like to encourage you to forward this letter to further candidates who might be interested in participating in our section at the IDT conference.

Kind regards,

The project team supporting Jörg Keller and Patty Shores
