The Faculty of Humanities invites applications for a
PROFESSORSHIP (W2/W3) FOR SIGN LANGUAGE LINGUISTICS WITH A FOCUS ON GRAMMAR AND LANGUAGE USE
commencing on 1 April 2018, ref. no. 2265
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in the subject of sign language linguistics with a focus on grammar and language use of German Sign Language. The successful candidate is further expected to have an empirical language research focus and the willingness to head a German Sign Language project (DGS Corpus) as well as to participate in the Faculty’s key research area Linguistic Diversity. Application to sign language interpretation is also desirable.
Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.
Requirements:
Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG.
Further criteria:
Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. They should also have experience with interdisciplinary cooperation. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.
In order to evaluate leadership skills in the areas of management and human resources, an assessment procedure will be conducted with selected W3 candidates following a hearing.
In accordance with Section 14 subsection 3 sentence 3 HmbHG, Universita?t Hamburg seeks to increase the proportion of women in teaching and research and encourages female academics to apply.
